Full breakdown on our weekly service page.

682 acres built around four man-made lakes. It is the only true waterfront community in northwest Las Vegas. The pools here exist in an environment unlike anywhere else in the valley.
The highest-value homes in Desert Shores sit directly on the water with private docks and direct lake access. These lakefront properties often feature resort-style pools with grottos, spa combinations, and water features built to complement the lake aesthetic. Managing a private pool on a waterfront lot adds variables most Las Vegas pool technicians never encounter. Ambient humidity is higher, organic debris from the lakeside landscaping is more varied, and the visual standard these pools are held to is entirely different.
Custom homes throughout Desert Shores, particularly in the gated enclaves, were built with elaborate pool setups: grottos with rock features, cave-style waterfalls, spa spillways, and tanning ledges that are structurally integrated into the pool shell. These configurations have additional surface area to brush, more complex plumbing to monitor, and more equipment components to inspect on every visit. We include all of it in our standard weekly service. There is no list of add-ons to negotiate.
Desert Shores was developed between 1988 and the mid-2000s. Many homes have been updated or remodeled, but the equipment pads tell a different story. Pump systems, heaters, and filtration installed years ago may be due for honest assessment or upgrading. We approach older equipment honestly: some deserves servicing and monitoring, some warrants a replacement conversation. We don't generate unnecessary repair tickets, and we don't ignore warning signs either.
Desert Shores is defined by its lush landscaping: mature palms, flowering shrubs, and maintained greenery that creates the resort feel. The trade-off is higher organic debris load than a typical Las Vegas backyard. Palm fronds, blossoms, and fine organic particulate from lakeside planting areas reach pools here at a higher rate than a standard desert yard, loading skimmer baskets and filter cartridges faster and requiring more attention to filtration maintenance cycles.
Desert Shores pools draw from the same Las Vegas municipal supply as every other pool in the valley. That water arrives at roughly pH 8.0, alkalinity near 120 ppm, and calcium hardness between 200 and 250 ppm. That combination puts the Langelier Saturation Index into scale-forming territory before summer heat and evaporation have a chance to compound it further.
| Parameter | Las Vegas Tap | Target Range | At Fill |
|---|---|---|---|
| pH | ~8.0 | 7.4 – 7.6 | Already elevated |
| Total Alkalinity | ~120 ppm | 80 – 120 ppm | At upper limit |
| Calcium Hardness | 200–250 ppm | 200 – 400 ppm | Will concentrate fast |
| LSI at Fill | +0.4 to +0.6 | –0.30 to +0.30 | Scale-forming |
What makes Desert Shores properties slightly different is the grotto and water feature factor. Complex pool configurations with rock features, grottos, and multiple water circuits have more surface area for scale to deposit, with more equipment components exposed to chronically positive LSI. Left unmanaged, scale builds inside grottos, on rock surfaces, and in heater heat exchangers more quickly than in a standard rectangular pool of the same volume.
We use full LSI-based calculations on every visit, corrected for actual water temperature and true carbonate alkalinity. For saltwater systems, we track the pH drift that salt cell operation causes in summer heat. More on our saltwater pool service.
Beyond weekly maintenance, we service the equipment running Desert Shores properties, including older systems that may need honest assessment and the upgraded configurations common in resort-style builds.

Derek holds manufacturer certifications from both Pentair and Hayward. When a panel throws a fault or output reads incorrectly on your automation system, that diagnosis happens on-site. No third-party referrals, no week-long wait for a callback. For equipment that has aged past its service window, we give you an honest assessment rather than a service ticket generated to justify a visit.
We don't require contracts. You stay because the service is consistent and the pool reflects it every week, not because paperwork obligates you to. Desert Shores is a community with long-term residents who know good service from bad. That accountability structure is how it should work.
After every service visit you receive a digital report with actual chemistry readings, what was adjusted, and any equipment or surface observations. You are never left guessing whether someone showed up or what they did. You have the record every time.
Yes. Grottos, waterfall features, sheer descents, and spa spillways are common throughout Desert Shores and are part of our standard weekly service scope, not add-ons. We include water feature plumbing inspection, rock surface brushing, and equipment checks for every circuit in the system on every visit.
Yes. Many Desert Shores homes were built in the late 1980s through the early 2000s, and equipment from that era varies considerably in condition. We give you an honest assessment of what is still serviceable and what is approaching the end of its useful life, without manufacturing urgency or recommending replacements that are not warranted.
Yes. Integrated pool-and-spa setups are standard in our weekly service. We test and balance both bodies independently on every visit and inspect all shared equipment, the spa heater circuit, and the spillway connection.
It means the relationship continues as long as you're satisfied with the work. No cancellation window, no early termination fee, no automatic annual renewal. Call or text to stop and that is it. No paperwork involved.
